ALL PURPOSE SEASONING
What Is All Purpose Seasoning?
It’s a seasoning blend of salt, pepper, garlic and onion powder, dried herbs, and spices. It is often used to season any savory dish to make it more flavorful.
All-Purpose Seasoning is pretty basic, which has distinct flavors. It enhances the flavor of your dishes while maintaining your dish’s main flavor.
Culinary Use
- Seasoning prior to cooking: Cut back on the recommended amount of salt for your recipe and replace that quantity with our all-purpose blend. This works particularly well for oven-roasted meats and vegetables because the sugar in the blend helps with caramelization.
- Use as a finishing seasoning: This works best for foods cooked over high heat (e.g. grilling, broiling, pan-searing) because the sugars in this blend could burn if added too early. Try adding a sprinkling to steaks, pork chops, chicken, and burgers while they rest before serving.
- Flavoring sauces and salad dressings: Cut back on salt and add all-purpose seasoning to taste.
These recommendations certainly don’t cover all the ways you can use this versatile seasoning, but they provide guidelines to follow as you experiment with its flavors
Health Benefits
- Spices and herbs mixed in all purpose seasoning such as clove, rosemary, sage, oregano, and cinnamon are excellent sources of antioxidants with their high content of phenolic compounds. It is evident that frequent consumption of spicy foods was also linked to a lower risk of death from cancer and ischemic heart and respiratory system diseases.
